Anyone wishing to coach Spring Ball is required to submit:

1. Spring Coaching Application
2. Police Record Check Application

"A" Team Manager Application deadline is Friday February 24, 2012

Only spring ball coaches are eligible to coach summer ball. In baseball, the proper title for the coach selecting players for the team is "Manager". Summer ball managers for the "A Teams" (tournament teams) are selected by a committee of the board of directors as specified in our constitution. Those chosen for these positions will be named in early May. Assistant coaches are recommended by the manager and appointed by the board after the team roster has been compiled in mid June.

Interested coaches must submit the summer coaching application by May 2 and must include an original copy of a police record check (PRC) OR a completed police record check application accompanied by the required pieces of identification. Applications without a PRC or PRC application will not be considered.

SOLL owns a batting cage at the Canterbury 1 diamond. It is directly behind the main diamond (behind Brian Kilrea Arena) and is open for all SOLL teams to book for batting practice. Coaches and managers can reserve times, and we encourage all teams to use this great piece of training equipment.

Batting Cage booking rules:

• Using this Batting Cage Calendar, reserve the time frame you plan to use. Please book a maximum of 1.5 hours at a time, and a maximum of two sessions per week.
• A two week calendar will be posted so if you want to book further out than that, check back within two weeks of the date you wish to use.
• We are using the honour system, so please do not delete another booking! If you cancel your session, please take it out of the calendar.
• First come, first served --- however we will monitor use to make sure everyone is getting an opportunity.

When you get to the cage:

• You need two keys to gain access to the cage. One unlocks the cage and one unlocks the hut. There is an L screen there for use as well. The keys are in a lock box attached to a tree directly behind the arena. The combination was provided to all coaches at the coaches meeting. If you need it again, please email one of the people listed below.

PLEASE PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE BOX AND NOT IN YOUR POCKET!

Canterbury Diamond

SOLL coach pitch division plays on Canterbury 1 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8pm. During those times you will not have access to the diamond if you are using the cage. There should be no reason why a teams can not use these facilities side by side during the same time frame if each group is respectful of the other. At other times, the diamond may or may not be available to use with the cage as it’s a first come, first served situation. But it is unlikely that too many other teams will be playing or practicing on this diamond.

When leaving the cage:

• Lock up and PLEASE do not forget to put the key back in the lock box.
